Frederik X: King of Tomorrow
11 October 2024 to 21 April 2025
To mark the historic succession of the throne on 14 January 2024, Koldinghus will show the exhibition ‘Frederik X: King of Tomorrow’ from 11 October 2024 to 21 April 2025. In a collage of photographs, objects, works of art, video clips and sound, the presentation paints a portrait of Denmark’s new king.
The exhibition invites you to get close to key moments and themes in the life of The King through exhibits that are directly associated with events and decisions that shaped The King as a person and as a monarch.
Among the items on display are the heavy beam, nicknamed ‘Maren’, that The King had to dig out from under when he completed his Frogman training, HM Queen Mary’s wedding gown and HM King Frederik X’s naval dress uniform. You can also see unique, personal objects, such as The King’s first schoolbag and his dogsled whip from the Expedition Sirius in Greenland.
Before the exhibition opens at Koldinghus, on 11 October, it is on display at the Amalienborg Museum, which is also part of the Royal Danish Collection. Here, the exhibition is open from 22 March to 8 September 2024. Read more about the exhibition at the Amalienborg Museum here.
Access to the exhibition is included in the general price of admission to Koldinghus between 11 October 2024 to 21 April 2025. You can buy tickets here.
