Norwegian chandelier

The chandelier in the Gala Hall was a present to Prince Christian (X) from his mother, the then Crown Princess Lovisa, who gave it to him in 1903.

The chandelier was bought at auction after having hung for many years in Oslo Castle, for which it was made. Originally there were four of these chandeliers, but one has been lost, and the other two, which also came into Danish ownership, today hang in Christiansborg. The Norwegian Royal Family has since had copies made for the castle in Oslo to replace the originals.

Dannebrog flag from 1864

At the so-called Reunification with Southern Jutland in 1920, Christian X received this banner in remembrance of the military defeat to Prussia and Austria in 1864.

Polar bear skin

The polar bear skin under the round table is placed in the study of Frederik VIII as a symbol of Greenland, as there is a polar bear depicted in Greenland's shield of arms.

Tapestry

The tapestry in Frederik VIII's study is made from imitation gilt-leather.

Floral paintings

The two round floral paintings on either side of the bureau were painted by Queen Louise herself.

Chaiselongue

The chaiselongue from 1864 is made of satin with twisted silk fringes and two large tassels.

Satin sofa

The grey satin sofa with matching armchairs in the private salon of Queen Louise are unusual for their time.

Angel lamp

A lamp which attests to of the arrival of electricity at Amalienborg in 1892, when Christian IX's Palace was connected to the mains.
